Clicker counter
A device best suited for tracking frequency.
Duration
The type of data recorded when measuring how long it takes a client to complete a task.
Permanent Product
A type of data collection where the outcome of a behavior is assessed after it has occurred.
Assist with the assessment
Your role in a functional assessment as an RBT.
Implementation
Your primary role as an RBT.
Observable and measurable behavior
Behavior defined in clear terms that can be seen or measured.
IRT (Inter-Response Time)
The length of time between two responses.
Rate
Frequency with a time component added to it.
Define the target behavior
The first action to take before collecting data.
Partial interval recording
An interval recording method that may underestimate the occurrence of behavior.
Discontinuous measurement
Measurement methods that involve observing behavior for part of the interval rather than the whole.
Preference assessment
The goal to find out what is reinforcing to the client.
Shaping
A process of gradually increasing requirements for reinforcement.
Backwards chaining
A method of teaching by starting with the last step of the task and working backwards.
DRI (Differential Reinforcement of Incompatible behavior)
Reinforcing a behavior that cannot occur at the same time as the undesired behavior.
DRO (Differential Reinforcement of Other behavior)
Reinforcing any behavior other than the undesired behavior.
DRD (Differential Reinforcement of Diminishing behavior)
Reinforcing a decrease in the frequency of the undesired behavior.
Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence model
A teaching method that includes an antecedent, behavior, and consequence.
Prompt
A cue or signal to encourage a response.
Antecedent
The event or condition that occurs before a behavior.
Task analysis
The process of breaking down a skill into smaller, manageable components.
Dual relationships
An ethical violation when an RBT accepts payment for babysitting from a client’s family.
Inform your supervisor
The best course of action if offered lunch by the client's parents.
