Atomic Number
The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, which determines the element's identity.
Chemical Symbol
A one or two-letter abbreviation for a chemical element.
Phase at Room Temperature
The state in which an element exists (solid, liquid, gas) at approximately 20°C.
Metal
Elements that are typically solid at room temperature, good conductors of heat and electricity.
Non-Metal
Elements that may exist as gases or brittle solids, poor conductors of heat and electricity.
Semimetal
Elements that have properties intermediate between metals and non-metals.
Cr
Chemical symbol for Chromium, a transition metal.
Ni
Chemical symbol for Nickel, a transition metal.
Cu
Chemical symbol for Copper, a transition metal.
Pt
Chemical symbol for Platinum, a dense transition metal.
Au
Chemical symbol for Gold, a highly valued metal.
Hg
Chemical symbol for Mercury, the only metal that is liquid at room temperature.
Rn
Chemical symbol for Radon, a noble gas.
Xe
Chemical symbol for Xenon, a noble gas used in certain types of lamps.
Ba
Chemical symbol for Barium, an alkaline earth metal.
U
Chemical symbol for Uranium, a radioactive metal.
