Panel

the setting or visual details behind the main subject that add context or subtext.
Graphic weight
visual emphasis created through shading, contrast, pattern, or bold color.
Punchline
the final line or visual twist that delivers the joke, criticism, or main message.
Emanata
lines or marks that show movement, emotion, or energy around a character or object.
Negative space
the empty areas around objects that help shape focus and composition.
Symbolism
objects or figures stand for wider political or social ideas.
Exaggeration
distortion and caricature are used to emphasize key traits or arguments.
Facial expressions
expressions communicate emotion, attitude, and reaction clearly and quickly.
Hands / feet
body positioning helps reveal action, mood, awkwardness, panic, or confidence.
Text captions / caption boxes
boxes of text provide commentary, scene-setting, or explanation.
Speech bubble
enclosed dialogue shows what a character is saying.
Thought bubble
enclosed internal dialogue shows what a character is thinking.
Lettering
the style and size of text can emphasize sound, emotion, or dramatic effect.
