What is erosion?
Erosion is the process by which natural forces move weathered rock and soil from one place to another.
What are the four main processes of erosion?
he four main processes of erosion are:
Hydraulic action
Abrasion (or corrasion)
Attrition
Solution (or corrosion)
What is hydraulic action?
Hydraulic action is the process where the force of water hits against a cliff face and causes rock to break off.
What is abrasion?
Abrasion is when rock particles carried by water, wind, or ice scrape and grind against surfaces like the sea bed or the side of the cliff, wearing them away as the material acts like sandpaper.
What is attrition?
Attrition is when rocks and pebbles carried by the water collide and break into smaller, smoother pieces causing them to become more rounded.
What is solution (corrosion)?
Solution is the chemical process where weak acidic water dissolves soluble minerals in rocks, such as limestone or chalk
