Sacral spine
The spinal region consisting of 5 fused vertebrae in adulthood.
Coccygeal spine

Kyphosis
A primary curve of the spine, seen in the thoracic and sacral regions.
Lordosis
A secondary curve of the spine, found in the cervical and lumbar regions.
Scoliosis
A lateral curvature of the spine that can be classified into dextroscoliosis (right) and levoscoliosis (left).
Cobb angle
A standard measurement used to determine and track the progression of scoliosis.
Compression fracture
A type of spinal fracture that occurs due to spinal flexion with compression.
Spondylolysis
A stress fracture in the pars interarticularis of the vertebra.
Orthosis
An external device applied to the body to restrict motion on a particular body segment or spinal region.
Lumbosacral orthosis (LSO)
An orthosis that limits flexion and extension, used for spinal support.
Halos brace
A rigid spinal orthosis that immobilizes the cervical spine and is used for complex spinal surgery.
Miami J collar
A cervical orthosis that provides stability and comfort while limiting motion.
Sacroiliac belt
An orthotic device worn around the pelvis to stabilize sacroiliac joints.
Spinal orthoses
Devices used to reduce spinal motion, support the trunk or neck, and correct deformities.
Indications for use of spinal orthoses
May include reducing pain, protecting unstable segments, or facilitating healing after injury.
Dextroscoliosis
The right-side curvature of the spine, a common form of scoliosis.
Levoscoliosis
The left-side curvature of the spine in scoliosis.
