US provides financial aid to European countries to rebuild after WWII. US used this to promote democracy over communism.

President after JFK. Implemented the Great Society and enforced containment in Vietnam. He wanted to help the struggling groups of society. Made large advancements for civil rights, like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
