INFANT BAPTISM:

             - sacrament for Catholics (1 or 7), as soon as possible

             - parents(/g) make promises on behalf + for selves (reject evil, repent for sin, submit to Christ), sign cross with chrism on 4head b4 to symbolise salvation

             - holy water (priest blessed) poured on 4head x3 from font

             - dressed in white, special christening robe, lit candle give to parents (received light of Christ)

WHY: believe in og sin, freed from it, reminds parent of duty to raise within faith, allows God 2B present as growing up, if dies young, can die within faith, just cause J was an adult doesn’t mean should or has to be an adult (didn’t specify), sacrament so no reason why can’t be given to infant, free from sin (reasonable choice of parents)

BELIEVER'S BAPTISM:

            - adolescent/ adult (of age for mature decision), more meaningful

            - Baptism classes teach what it means, can be individ or group

            - proper, public, conscious comittment

            - Gives testimony (means to them) + answers questions, minister also gives an address explaining importance

            - Fully immersed in the water in baptistry x3 (F,S,HS in the name of), personal sins washed away, rise up in new life

WHY: Baptists don't believe in og sin, Bap+Pentecos think bb 2 young to understand meaning/purpose, doesn't just save a person but person's conversion to living a life dedicated to Christ, shouldn't force a child, only adult can realise importance, follows Jesus' example, child hasn't sinned yet to repent for, Believer’s is more powerful, total immersion symbolise unsuitable for infant
