Could you please introduce yourself to the court?
My name is Ali Sandoval. I am a journalist for the Emerald Bend Daily Reporter.
How are you involved in today’s case?
I was covering the race for city council between Harper Dorais and Taylor Alexander for several months. I attended all the major campaign events, debates and interviewed them and their campaign staff, including Logan Gold many times.
Throughout your coverage, did Logan Gold’s attitude ever stand out to you?
He was always very passionate about the campaign in my interviews.
Did you notice any tensions between Gold and Alexander because of this?
Now that I think about it, I did notice a sense of animosity between the two because of their views on vacation rentals.
Is there a specific instance you remember that displayed this animosity to you?
I remember in one particular conversation Gold told Alexander that his position would “ruin the town.” He also told him that “Alexander’s destruction would come back around.”
Was this the only time you heard the defendant state things “would come back around?
No, it was his catchphrase. He repeatedly stated it throughout the race and even said it to me directly in interviews.
I want to move to the day of the debate. Were you present on Nov. 11th?
Yes, I arrived early at around 11:00 AM
Was Gold present at the debate when you arrived?
A: No, she arrived later at around 12:30 PM.
Did you notice anything about Gold and Dorais when he/she arrived?
Yes, Dorais seemed nervous and asked Gold “what was going on”. Gold responded by saying “it’s all been taken care of"
