Good
That which is considered morally right, beneficial and to our advantage
Evil
That is considered extremely immoral, wicked and wrong or causing harm to others
Free will
The ability to make choices voluntarily and independently. The belief that nothing is pre-determined.
Forgiveness
To grant pardon for a wrongdoing; to give up resentment and the desire to seek revenge against a wrongdoer.
Justice
Fairness; where everyone has equal provisions and opportunity
Morality
Principles and standards determining which actions are right or wrong.
Punishment
a penalty given to someone for a crime or wrong they have done
Sin
Deliberate moral action, breaking a religious or moral law.
Suffering
Pain or distress caused by injury, illness or loss. Suffering can be physical, emotional/psychological or spiritual.
Relative morality
The ethical perpsective where morals and what is good or bad can change, depending on situations.
Absolute morality
The ethical principles where morals (what is good or bad) is constant no matter the situation.

Alcohol and drugs, Poverty, Low self esteem, Quality of family life and The prescence of evil and sin in the world.
Aims of punishment
Retribution, Reparation, Deterrence, Reformation, Protection and Justice.
Retribution
Revenge on behalf of those who were wronged.
Reparation
Compensation for harm or wrongdoing - criminals pay for what they have done.
Reformation
Trying to ensure the criminal is helped to change their approach and way of life.
Main aim of punishment in Christianity
Protection
Ensuring that society is kept free from possible recurring of a crime by a criminal.
Deterrence
Discouraginh people from committing crimes, because they know what the punishment is, and know it will be given to those caught committing a crime.
