Nuremberg Trials

Manhattan Project
A research development program during WWII to develop the first nuclear weapons in Tennessee. Led by the U.S in collab with the UK and Canada.
Yalta Conference
A meeting between the Soviet Union (Stalin), US (Roosevelt), and the UK (Churchill) to discuss what postwar peace would be like. (Created the United Nations, kept liberated countries liberated, security council, etc)
Truman Doctrine/Containment
U.S foreign policy that pledges American support to democratic nations against communism. (Notes say that if a country was communist, it stays communist an you can’t de-communist it which does NAWT work)
Marshall Plan
European recovery program when the U.S gives THIRTEEN BILLION BUCKAROOS to western Germany to rebuild.
The Cold War
A period of tension between the US and the Soviet Union (and their allies) that involved threats of nuclear BOMBS and the spread/fear of Communism.

Far right southern democrats (pre-Lyndon) like segregation, conservatism, black hatin white people.

Third party candite (Dixiecrat) that took control over the Democratic party in the Deep South. He separated from the Democratic part because he believed states’ rights were being taken and he HATED BLACK PEOPLE.

Republican candidate who was actually ran a great campaign and was SUPPOSED to win but evil evil Thurmond ruined it…
The Korean War
Korea is split in half (EVERYONE ACT SURPRISED) NK is Communist, SK is Democratic. Basically, USSR sets up strong commie gov and US sets up weak dem gov so when both foreign nations leave Korea, NK invades the South and war ensues.

Large scale engagement between NK and the UN, one of the first ones in TKW, where the Korean People’s Army was offensive, loosing troops and having shortage of supplies while the UN was defensive (losing fights but they’re holding on!)
Inchon Invasion
UN invasion led by MacArthur using the RECAXCYTED landing in September of 1950 against the KPA that tables turned the war. (navy usage, led to like a truce eye gee, NK is still commie so we can see it dint work v well)
Alger Hiss
SOVIET SPYYY!! He was FDR’s advisor, at the Yalta conference and instilled fear that Democrats were spies.
Richard Nixon (pre-presidency)
Congressmen who fought against communism and was Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Vice Presidency.
Joseph McCarthy
Republican American politician who had a list of spies in the American Government on his little scroll. Accused the Democratic parties of being espionage. (he wasn’t onto nothing)
J. Edgar Hoover
Head/founder of the FBI and was so strong and influential that term limits were put on FBI leaders. He knew who the spies were (bc hes the leader of the FBI) and when he told Truman about Truman told him to quit waffling, so he told the Republicans instead. (guess who)

American civil rights organization formed in 1909 but later became used to advance justice for African Americans through the legal systems. (had many lawyers)
Thurgood Marshall
Leader of the NAACP who was a prominent figure in Civil Rights by using the law to gain rights for AAs. (Unlike MLK who used protest and public appearance)
Brown v, Board of Education
Desegregates schools since before it was separate but equal. (NOT V EQUAL) Eisenhower enforces this by stationing the army in southern places to walk black kids to and from school.

Led a Christian movement, priest, I have dream guy, if you dk more abt him that’s a skill issue.

Predecessor of Joseph Stalin and wanted to improve to lives of ordinary people. (he was popular that is important)

35th president of the US from 1961 until he was assassinated in 1963. Born in Massachusetts, he was the youngest elected president, the first Roman Catholic, and served in WWII and the Cold War

US Special Forces that used unconventional warfare, delt with foreign internal defense and counter terrorism. (They also trained foreign troops and wherever they were deployed they had to know about that counties language and culture)

Military and political overthrow of Fulgencio Batista's dictatorship that lasted 5 years and was led by Fidel Castro.

Leader of the Cuban Revolution who promised democracy if they won but became communist once he was in power.
Bay of Pigs Invasion
Failed military invasion on April of 1961 on Cuba consisting of Cuban exiles who opposed Castro’s government, they were financed and trained by the US. This invasion affected relationships between the US, USSR and Cuba (duh)
Berlin Wall
Constructed on August 19th, 1961, to separate Eastern and Western Germany. Khrushchev claimed the west was worse but because you could see over the [REDACTED], people could see it was untrue and often escaped the USSR using it to get west.
Cuban Missile Crisis
US sees bomb sights in Cuba and Soviet cargo ships with BOMBS going to Cuba so Kennedy sends the US Navy to stop any planting of them. (this almost causes nuclear war) (but it doesnt!!) The deal is USSR doesn’t plant any bombs and US doesn’t invade. (this leads to a lot of Civil War in Cuba due to default protection by the USSR)

New Deal v2 where Johnson declares war on poverty (aimed heavily at black ppl in the South bc white southerners stopped voting dem) and creates social programs like Medicare. (they fail)

General William Westmoreland
General during the Vietnam War who did NAWT agree with shit Johnson was saying but his war strategy was to slowly wear down NV until it collapsed.
Ho Chi Min Trail
A network of trails and roads that ran from North Korea to South Korea passing through Loas and Cambodia. It was used by NK to infiltrate troops and supplies to SK to support Viet Kong. Also where the Vietnam War was fought!
