1495-96 TURNING POINT - James IV offered help to Warbeck - stayed for 2years receiving pension and marriage offer with James’ cousin. James encouraged WB to cross border into England w Scottish army - UNSUCCESSFUL but forced H to raise large army to fight potential Scottish invasion.
1497 CORNISH REBELLION - response to tax rises to pay for army to fight Scots.
TRUCE OF AYTON - Warbeck departs Scotland.
1498 Relations improved. James IV no longer has use for WB
1501-03 Marriage alliance between James IV and Henry’s daughter Margaret. Formal peace treaty - PERPETUAL PEACE
SUCCESSES post 1497
following the Cornish rebellion and Warbeck leaving Scotland, both sides looked towards reconciliation
Following the perpetual peace treaty the relationship between England and Scotland improved and the marriage between James IV and Margaret took place in 1503.
