For scale drawings

How can u work out the resultant force if you have the forces of the arrows and the direction

And to find the direction of resultant force

-plot arrows onto a grid

  • move them so they fit tip to tail

  • Draw a line to connect to form a triangle

  • And measure the line length and convert to newtons to find resultant force

  • to find the direction of resultant force calculate the angle that joins the line of resultant force and the line of other force

How do you resolve vectors

  • the aim is to split up into horizontal and vertical components

  • You need to use scale drawing

  • Plot force onto graph

  • Making sure to convert newton into cm measurement

  • See how many cm u need across and upwards to connect into triangle

  • So you will get a horizontal newton in a direction and an upward vertical newton measurement
