Helping Verbs
Verbs that support the main verb, indicating tense or mood, and always appear before it.
Linking Verbs
Verbs that connect the subject to a descriptor, often in the form of 'to be'.
Linking Verb Exceptions
Linking verbs that provide more description, often using the five senses.
Forms of 'To Be'
The various forms of the verb 'to be': am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been.
Action Verbs
Verbs that demonstrate what the subject is doing.
Simple Sentences
Sentences that contain only one main verb, which can be either linking or action.
Helping Verb Examples
Common helping verbs include: could, should, have, shall, would, may, might, will.
Five Senses Linking Verbs
Linking verbs that describe how something appears or feels, involving senses like looks, sounds, feels, etc.
Subject of a Sentence
The noun or pronoun that performs the action or is described in a sentence.

A series of verbs where the main verb is typically the last one.
