Connective Tissue

Tissue that provides support and flexibility, containing collagen protein fibers and a protein-carbohydrate matrix called chondrin.

Chondroblasts

Cells that build the matrix of connective tissue until they become mature chondrocytes, surrounded by a perichondrium that lacks blood vessels.

Hyaline Cartilage

Type of cartilage with fine collagen fibers densely packed, providing strength and flexibility, found at the ends of bones and in the trachea and bronchi.

Elastic Cartilage

Type of cartilage with visible elastic fibers and fine collagen fibers, offering flexible support, located in the external ear.

Fibrocartilage

Type of cartilage with parallel bundles of thick collagen fibers, less compacted but compressible, supporting body weight or heavy pressure, found in intervertebral discs and the meniscus of the knee between pelvic bones.
