What does all matter contains?
Both Positive and negative electric charges
In liquids and gases what happens?
The positive and negative charges can be moblie
In metals👀…
The negative charges(electrons) can be mobile and the positive charges remain fixed
What does Neutral bodies contain?
They have the same amount of positive and negative charge and these therefore cancel.
Earth
Refers to a large body that can provide Electrons to or take Electrons from another body and still be considered neutral
How does Electrons flow?
It’s opposite in direction to Convetional Current flow.
Electrostatic induction
Is the process by which electrical properties are transferred from one body to another without physical contact.
Attraction and repulsion
Similar charges repel.
And unlike charges attract.
Electric fields
Is the region in which a body experiences a force due to it charge.
Field lines
May be used to represent the strength and direction of electric(magnetic) fields
Characteristics of field lines
The lines never touch.
Is a longitudinal tension within a line.
Is a lateral repulsion between lines that are close to each other.
The fields is uniform where the lines are evenly spaced and parallel.
Are directed from positive to negative charge.
Isolated positive and negative charge (electric field line around isolated point charges)
