Sun

A big, bright star that gives us light and warmth.

Energy

Power that makes things happen. Plants use energy from the Sun to grow. Animals get energy from eating plants or other animals that have eaten plants.

Photosynthesis

The process by which plants use sunlight to make food.

Orbit

The path Earth follows as it moves around the Sun.

Seasons

The four different times of the year: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Light

The Sun gives us light so we can see during the day. Without the sun it would be dark all the time.

Warmth

The Sun keeps Earth warm. Without the Sun it would be very cold.

Plants

Living things that use the Sun's energy to make their own food. Plants store energy in their leaves, roots, and fruits.

Animals

Living things that get energy by eating plants or other animals that ate plants. Animals need energy to move, grow, and stay healthy.

Distance

How far Earth is from the Sun. Earth is in just the right place-- not too close and not too far from the Sun.
