Time Signature
A notation indicating the number of beats in a measure and the note value that receives one beat.
Numerator in Time Signature
The top number in a time signature, indicating how many beats are in each measure.
Denominator in Time Signature
The bottom number in a time signature, indicating which note value represents one beat (e.g., 1 for whole notes, 2 for half notes, 4 for quarter notes).
Common Time
A time signature of rac{4}{4} which is widely used in Western music.
Types of Notes
Musical notes of different values such as whole notes, half notes, quarter notes that indicate the duration of sound.
