Fluoroscopy
An imaging technique that shows a continuous x-ray image on a monitor.
Image Intensification
A process that converts an x-ray image into a brighter visible light image.
Brightness Gain
The ratio of the brightness of the output to the brightness of the input.
Automatic Brightness Control (ABC)
An electronic feedback system that maintains optimal image brightness during fluoroscopy.
Quantum Mottle
A grainy appearance of the image caused by insufficient exposure.
Digital Fluoroscopy
Uses digital imaging technology for fluoroscopic examinations, improving resolution and reducing dose.
Flux Gain
A measure of the conversion efficiency of the output screen in an image intensifier.
Minification Gain
The ratio of the input screen diameter to the output screen diameter, affecting brightness.
Resolution
The ability to distinguish fine details in an image.
Vignetting
The gradual dimming of an image towards its corners, affecting image quality.
