What are pertinent negatives of chest pain?
Shortness of breath, cough, skin changes, other
What can be asked about shortness of breath?
any new or worsening shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, wheezing, or chest tightness?
What can be asked about a cough?
Is it productive or unproductive?
What is the sputum colour and consistency?
Have they coughed up any blood?
What can be asked about skin changes?
Do they have pale, clammy, or sweaty skin?
Is there new or worsening swelling in the limbs, lower back, or abdomen?
Have the lower limbs changed colour? Are they hot to touch or painful?
What are the other pertinent negatives for chest pain?
Any nausea or vomiting?
Any palpitations?
Any dizziness, feeling faint, or fainting episodes?
Any recent surgery, long-haul flights, prolonged immobility, or swelling/tenderness in the lower limbs?
Any fever symptoms such as rigours, chills, muscle aches, lethargy?
Any history of chest wall trauma?
Any pain other than the pain in their chest?
Have they experienced any tingling or numbness in their hands, feet, or around their mouth?
