Angular Position
An angle measured from a reference line, measured in radians (rad), which are dimensionless.
Average Angular Velocity
The change of angular position over time, expressed in radians per second.
Instantaneous Angular Velocity
The angular velocity at a specific moment in time, also expressed in radians per second.
Angular Acceleration
The rate of change of angular velocity, measured in radians per second squared.
Moment of Inertia
A scalar value representing the resistance of an object to changes in its rotational motion.
Rotational Kinetic Energy
The energy of an object due to its rotation, calculated as (1/2)Iω², where I is the moment of inertia and ω is the angular velocity.
Rolling Motion
A combination of pure rotational and pure translational motion occurring when an object rolls without slipping.
Centripetal Acceleration
The acceleration that keeps a rotating body moving in a circular path, directed toward the center of the circle.
Tangential Speed
The linear speed of a point on a rotating object, measured in meters per second (m/s).
Conservation of Energy
The principle stating that the total energy remains constant in an isolated system; for rolling objects, it includes both translational and rotational kinetic energies.
