Work
The amount of energy done by a force over a distance.
Constant Force
A force that remains the same in magnitude and direction throughout its action.
Joule (J)
The SI unit of work, equivalent to one newton-meter (N.m).
Positive Work
Work done when the force or component of force is in the direction of motion.
Negative Work
Work done when the force or component of force is opposite to the direction of motion.
Zero Work
Work done when the force is perpendicular to the direction of displacement.
Power
The rate at which work is done; measured in watts (W).
Net Work
The total work done when multiple forces are acting; calculated by summing the work done by each force.
Work-Energy Theorem
The principle stating that the work done on an object is equal to the change in its kinetic energy.
Spring Force
The force required to stretch or compress a spring, proportional to its displacement.
Tension Force
The force exerted by a string or rope when it is taut.
