RULE: -o (masc.) → -a (fem.)

RULE: -e endings DON'T change

interesante → interesante (m/f same!)

TIP: Adjective FOLLOWS the noun in Spanish!

KEY CONNECTOR: y (and)

Use 'y' to join two ideas:

Use 'pero' for contrast:

Use 'porque' to explain:

Key info: Name = Carlos. Age = 15. → 'tengo...años' = I am...years old

Key info: Location = Madrid. Lives WITH family. → 'vivo en' = I live in

You hear: 'No me gusta el examen. Es muy difícil.'

Key info: He DOESN'T like the exam. It is VERY difficult. → 'no me gusta' = I don't like

You hear numbers: 'La clase empieza a las ocho.'

Key info: Class starts at 8. → 'empieza' = starts / 'a las ocho' = at eight

You hear feelings: 'Estoy muy contenta hoy.'

Key info: She is VERY happy TODAY. → 'contenta' = happy (feminine speaker!)

STRATEGY: Listen for 'no' — it flips the meaning!

'No voy' = I'm NOT going. Opposite of 'Voy' (I'm going)

STRATEGY: Verbs tell you WHO is speaking

Hablo = I speak | Habla = he/she speaks | Hablan = they speak

STRATEGY: Cognates are your friends!

Listen extra carefully to the opening and closing of any audio clip

PRACTICE: Listen to 'Dreaming Spanish' on YouTube (beginner level)

Even 10 minutes daily trains your ear. Focus on verbs and names.
