Identify
Resistor (R)
Resistor purpose:
Limits the flow of electricity in a circuit.
Types of Resistors
Variable, Fixed Value

Identify
Fuse (F)
Fuse Purpose
Opens a circuit to stop a current if it exceeds a certain value
Types of fuses
Standard, Time delay, Fast acting
Circuit Breaker
an automatic device for stopping the flow of current in an electric circuit in case of excessive current.

Identify
Circuit Breaker (CB)
Trip Free vs Non-Trip Free Circuit Breakers
Trip Free is automatic, non-trip free can be manually set to not trip

Identify
Switch (S)
Switch
Device that either opens, closes, or changes a circuit
Define Poles, Throws, Breaks, + Positions
Poles: Number of terminals that currents can enter
Throws: number of circuits that can be controlled by each pole
Breaks: number of places that the switch opens/breaks the circuit
Positions: physical positions (I.E. on/off)
name some manual and automatic switch types
Manual: Toggle, Push button, multiposition
Automatic: mechanically acuted, pressure activated, thermal activated, proximity

Identify
Capacitor (C)
Capacitor
Component that stores and releases electrical energy by accumulating it on 2 plates

Identify 🥀
Lamp (DS)

Identify
Relay (K)
Relay
A device that uses an electrical signal to engage or break another circuit.
Components of a relay
Coil
Moveable contact
Fixed contact
