What is the minimum distance from a cloud part 107 compliance requires?
2000 feet horizontally, 500 feet below vertically.
When can you fly at sea?
Sparsely populated, can’t transport another person’s property (while being paid to do so) OR You applied for an FAA waiver and got it approved.
when can you fly from a moving vehicle?
Sparsely populated area, NOT flying another person’s load for any compensation / Got FAA waiver to do so.
When can you fly over people?
1) Your own crew: Drone with propeller guards, Remote ID transmitter AND maximum 0.55 lbs (Category 1 drones).
Drone Category 1?
Drone maximum 0.55 lbs, Remote ID transmitter, No exposed rotating parts.
Drone category 2?
Drone UNDER 55 lbs, remote ID, no exposed rotating parts, cannot produce more than 11 ft-lbs of force upon impact.
Drone Category 3?
Drone UNDER 55lbs, no exposed rotating parts, no impact energy greater than 25 ft-lbs, no exposed rotating parts.
Drone Category 4?
Any drone under 55 lbs and FAA air-certified.
When flying at night?
Anti-collision lights visible for 3 SM, sUAV license (part 107), “flash rate” sufficient to avoid collision.
Anti collision Lights
Red or White, blinking or strobing. You can reduce the intensity if it’s safer to do so, but NEVER turn them off.
Civil Twilight
30 minutes before sun up and 30 minutes after sundown EXCEPT in Alaska.
