Bobo Doll Studies
A series of experiments conducted by Albert Bandura in the 1960s to study social learning through imitation.
Imitation
The act of copying or mimicking behaviors observed in others, key to Bandura's research.
Vicarious Reinforcement
A process where individuals increase the likelihood of a behavior due to observing another being rewarded for that behavior.
Vicarious Punishment
A process where individuals decrease the likelihood of a behavior due to observing another being punished for that behavior.
True Imitation
When individuals directly replicate the behaviors observed in others without the need for direct reinforcement.
Correlational Data
A type of data that shows the relationship between two variables but does not imply causation.
Desensitization
Reduction in emotional responsiveness to a stimulus after prolonged exposure, particularly to violence in media.
Bi-directional Relationship
A two-way relationship where both variables influence each other, as seen between media exposure and aggression.
Aggressive Behavior
Actions that are intended to harm or intimidate others, which can be influenced by exposure to violent media.
Mass Media Influence
The impact of television and other mass communication formats on societal behaviors and norms.
