Bepop
The style featured complex melodies and chord progressions and was basically not adoptable to dancing. Trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie is generally considered to be the Father of Bepop.
Ragtime
Rhythms brought from a musical heritage in Africa were incorporated into cakewalls, coon songs, and the music of “Jig Bands” which is eventually evolved into Ragtime. The first Ragtime composition was published by Ben Harney.
Big Band
The word ensemble applies to this style as the big bands usually were made up of ten or more players.
Jazz Rock
In the late 1960s and early 1970s the hybrid form of jazz rocks fushion was developed. Jazz fushion music often uses mixed meters, odd time signatures, syncopation, and complex chords.
