Fowlers Position

Prone Position
The person lies on the abdomen with the head turned to 1 side. Small pillows are under the head, stomach, and lower legs. Arms are flexed at the elbows
Lateral position (side lying position)
The person lies on one side or the other. Upper leg is in front of lower leg. The ankle, upper leg, and thigh is supported with pillows. Back is at 45 degree angle.
SIMs position (semi-prone position)
Left side-lying position. The upper leg (right leg) is sharply flexed so it is not on the lower leg (left leg). The lower arm (left arm) is behind the person.
