Cultural diffusion
Process by which cultural ideas, beliefs, technologies, or practices spread from one group to another.
Polytheism
Worship of many gods.
Sedentary
Staying in one place; not nomadic.
Ziggurat
A stepped pyramid in ancient Mesopotamia.
Democracy
System of government in which power is held by the people.
Domestic
Relating to the home or family; household.
Specialization
Process of concentrating on and becoming an expert in a specific skill.
Syncretism
The blending of different cultural or religious beliefs and practices.
Secular
Not related to religion; nonreligious.
Filial piety
Respect and care for one's parents and elders; a core value in Confucianism.
Patriarchy
A social system in which males hold primary power and authority.
Dynasty
A line of rulers from the same family that maintains rule over a country.
Monarchy
A form of government ruled by a king or queen, often for life.
Pastoralism
A way of life centered on herding and raising livestock.
Diaspora
The dispersion of a population from its homeland.
Monotheism
Worship of a single god.
Aristocracy
A government or ruling class composed of the privileged or noble elite.
