What does stunted growth mean?
Lack of height; growth failure often due to malnutrition or illness.
What does underweight mean?
Having less body fat and a weight below the healthy range for age, gender, and height.
What does overweight mean?
Having more body fat than is healthy; above the normal weight range for age, gender, and height.
What does obese mean?
Weighing much more than the healthy range for age, gender, and height.
What does extremely obese mean?
Being extremely overweight with a very high amount of body fat.
What is impacted cerumen?
Earwax that builds up in the ear canal and blocks it.
What is swimmer's ear?
An infection in the outer ear canal (from the eardrum to the outside of the head).
What is otitis media?
Infection or inflammation of the middle ear.
Define astigmatism.
Blurred vision caused by an irregularly shaped cornea or lens curvature.
Define myopia.
Nearsightedness; the eye does not bend light properly, making distant objects appear blurry.
Define hyperopia (farsightedness).
Difficulty focusing on close objects; distant objects may be clearer.
What is dandruff?
Flaking of skin on the scalp.
What are ingrown toenails?
Toenail edges grow into the surrounding skin.
What is sunburn?
Skin damage caused by overexposure to the sun.
What are corns and calluses?
Thickened layers of skin that develop to protect against friction or pressure.
What are cavities?
Holes in teeth that can get bigger; dental caries.
What is gingivitis?
Gum disease; inflammation of the gums that can destroy tissue around teeth.
What is malocclusion?
Misalignment or crowding of the teeth.
What is halitosis?
Bad breath; an unpleasant odor from the mouth.
What is scoliosis?
Sideways curvature of the spine, often occurring during puberty.
What is lordosis?
Excessive inward curvature of the lower spine.
What is kyphosis?
Exaggerated outward curvature of the spine (often called a hunchback).
