Cartilaginous Joint
A joint connected by cartilage, allowing slight movement.
Synovial Joint
A joint characterized by a joint cavity filled with synovial fluid, allowing considerable movement.
Synarthrosis

Synchondrosis
A cartilaginous joint united by hyaline cartilage, allowing little or no movement.
Symphysis
A cartilaginous joint where fibrocartilage unites two bones, allowing for slight movement.
Bursae
Pockets of synovial membrane and fluid that reduce friction in joints.
Flexion
Movement of a body part in the anterior direction relative to the coronal plane.
Extension
Movement of a body part in the posterior direction relative to the coronal plane.
Abduction
Movement away from the median plane of the body.
Adduction
Movement towards the median plane of the body.

Movement of the forearm so that the palm faces posteriorly.
Supination
Movement of the forearm so that the palm faces anteriorly.
