People aged between 15-24, between childhood and adulthood, associated with part work, changes, finding themselves and education
Youth Stats
3.3 million youth in Australia, 13% population
1.7 million are male, 1.6 million are female
4.7% are ATSI
9.3% have a disability
Youth diversity
Age, culture, education, work type, family, level of independence, housing etc
Positive terms
Young people, future leaders, teenagers, future generation etc

Trouble makers, juveniles, rebellious, doomed, emo etc
Youth Need: Education
Legal requirement until 17 yrs old, gain knowledge, set up their future, economic well-being, socialisation, friendships etc
Youth needs: sense of identity
Period of change, set up for life, period of questioning and finding ones self, influence of culture, friends, media etc

Often dependant on parents or families, without other needs are often not met

Education- compulsory public education till 17, Abstudy

Umbrella term for additional handicaps or challenges faced by people in sical, psychological, intellectual or sensory spheres making accessing scoiety difficult
