How does heat transfer in convection?
Particles gain energy and become less dense they rise up. Cooler, denser fluid moves to take their place, creating a continuous circular motion.
What is work done?
Energy transferred.
What is power?
The rate at which work is done.
What are all the energy stores?
Thermal, kinetic, chemical, electrostatic, magnetic, gravitational potential, elastic potential, nuclear
What are all the energy transfers?
Mechanical, electrical, heating, radiation (light and sound)
What is the principle of conservation of energy?
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred
How does heat transfer in conduction?
when neighbouring particles in a substance or two substances collide, transferring thermal energy from a hotter area to a colder one without particles moving from their positions
