Individualism
All are unique and have equal worth
Developmental individualism
Individual freedom is linked to the idea of creating a society in which each person can grow
Egotistical individualism
They are self seeking and self reliant and society is little more than a collection of individuals
Tolerance
Choices practices and beliefs should be tolerated
Freedom
The ability to make own choice, free from interference
Negative freedom
Being free from government restraint but the ability to enjoy freedom will be constrained by laws
Positive freedom
Individuals should be able to control own destinies to achieve self-fulfillment, requiring some state intervention
The state
Collection of permanent institutions that make up a nation under one government
Limited government
System of government with checks and balances to limit the expertise of power
Constitutionalism
A system in which governemtn in ehich power i’d distributer send limited by a system of laws, usually codified through a written constitution
Laissez-faire economy
Self interest and the free market drive economic growth
Rationalism
Individuals should be able to able to able to excersisr their judgement on their own needs without external guidance fron authorities
Equality of oppurtunity
All individuals should have equal oppurtinity to rise and fall
Natural Rights
The rights that all humans have by virtue of being born
Meritocracy
People with different work should be rewarded differently, rewarding hard work
Social contract
People must freely give and renew their consent to be governed. They can rebel if the government breaks this contract
