Geometry Terminology and Symbolism

Point

A fixed position in space; One Captial letter

Line

An infinitely man points extended in opposite directions; 2 capital letters (arrows), or one cursive letter

Ray

An Infinitely many points extending in one direct, and contains one end point; 2 capital letters (one arrow)

Line Segment

Infinitely many points, but not extending in any direction. Contains two endpoints; two capital letters

Plane

Infinitely many points forming a flat surface (minimum 3 points); 3 capital letters that do not lie on the same line or one capital cursive letter

Collinear Points

Points that are lying on the same line (identified); any pair of points can be collinear.

Coplanar

Points and lines that lie in the same plane; 2 capital letters (with two arrows)

Opposite Rays

Two rays that share a common end point and form a straight line; two capital letters (with one arrow)
