History of AAS
1. In the summer of 1947 cadets at the University of Cincinnati discussed the possibility of an honorary society
2. With the help of cadre they drafted a constitution keeping in mind the idea of making this a national group
3. Henry H. Arnold gave permission to use his name for the proposed "Arnold Society of Air Cadets
4. These cadets became the Hap Arnold Squadron
5. By the year 1948 the constitution was sent to all AFROTC dets
Memberships
1. Active: Cadet enrolled in AFROTC or Air Force Academy who has completed candidate classes, paid dues, and is in good standing
2. Inactive: Member who wishes to remain inactive but in good standing and pays national dues
3. Associate: Member of SW become associate members of AAS upon payment of SW dues
4. Honorary: An award for a person who is not eligible for membership but contributes greatly to the society
