Noun
A word that designates a person, place, or thing.
Masculine Nouns
Nouns that are associated with male gender, typically preceded by 'un'.
Feminine Nouns
Nouns that are associated with female gender, typically preceded by 'une'.
Article
The word used in front of a noun, such as 'the', 'a/an', or 'some'.
Indefinite Article
In French, 'un', 'une', and 'des' which indicate a noun's gender and number.
Plural Form of Indefinite Article
Changes from 'un' or 'une' to 'des' for plural nouns.
Gender of Nouns
In French, nouns are either masculine or feminine.
Endings Indicating Gender
Nouns ending in '-age', '-ment', '-eau', etc., are usually masculine, while those ending in '-tion', '-sion', '-té', etc., are usually feminine.
Exceptions in Gender
Some nouns can refer to either gender, such as 'un professeur' (a professor) or 'une personne' (a person).
