Compound Microscope

Microscope that views objects too small to see with our eyes.

Dissecting Microscope

Magnifies objects up to 40x, can examine living specimens.

Compound Light Microscope

Magnifies objects up to 1500x. Light source needed, magnifying lenses magnification up to 1500x. Can examine Living specimens

Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)

3D computer images, detailed internal structures, magnification up to 100,000x. Cannot examine living specimens

Transmitting Electron Microscope (TEM)

2D computer image, detailed internal structures magnification up to 1,000,000x. Use vacuum tube and a computer. CANNOT examine living specimens
