Salt and Light

Use your gifts to make the world better and spread kindness.

• Example:

  • Standing up for someone

  • Volunteering at a shelter

  • Refusing to cheat or lie

Law and Prophets

• Go beyond the rules

• Follow the commandments and help others follow them too.

• Do more than the basics.

• Example:

  • role models who live by their values

Anger

• Control your emotions

• What Jesus Said: Anger can be as harmful as hurting someone.

• Meaning: Control your emotions and make peace with others.

• Example:

  • Family fights

  • Workplace frustration

  • Bullying in school

Adultery/Divorce

• Purity in thought

• Thinking bad thoughts about someone is still wrong.

• Purity is in the heart and mind, not just actions.

Example:

• Magazine covers, tabloids, and reality TV

Oaths

• Mean what you say

• What Jesus Said: Just say “yes” or “no” — mean what you say.

• Meaning: Be honest and trustworthy without making big promises.

Example:

• Law: In court before the witness.

Retaliation

• Choose peace over revenge

• What Jesus Said: If someone hurts you, don’t hit back.

• Meaning: Don’t take revenge—choose forgiveness and kindness.

• Meaning: Don’t pray just to look holy—talk to God from your heart.

• Meaning: Be kind and fair. Look at your own actions first.

• Example:

  • Judging somone’s lifestyle.

Ask, Search, Knock

• Don’t give up

• What Jesus Said: If you ask, search, and knock—God will answer.

• Meaning: Don’t give up. Keep praying, trying, and hoping.

• Example:

  • Social Justice and Activism (campaigns)

Treasures

• Focus on what lasts

• What Jesus Said: Don’t collect wealth on earth—focus on heaven.

• Meaning: Material things don’t last—value love, faith, and goodness more.

• Example:

  • Obsessing over wealth

  • Obsession of technology

  • Social media fame

  • Investing in relationships and kindness

  • Building a life around faith and service

Worry

• Trust God, not stuff

• What Jesus Said: Don’t stress about food, clothes, or life needs.

• Meaning: Trust God. Focus on today and what truly matters.

• Example:

  • Financial stress.

  • Academic stress.

  • AI replacing jobs.

  • Fear or failure.

Self-Deception

• Live what you believe

• What Jesus Said: Not everyone who says “Lord” will enter heaven—only those who do God’s will.

• Meaning: Faith must be real and shown through your actions.

• Example:

  • Going to Church but ignoring God’s Commands.

  • Churchgoers who never open their bibles outside of Sunday.

  • Using God's name for personal gain

  • Youth growing up in church but lacking a personal leadership with God

Hearers and Doers

• What Jesus Said: Wise people follow Jesus’ teachings, not just listen to them.

• Meaning: Actions matter—build your life on faith and follow-through.

• Example:
