They both use chemical signals, are controlled by negative feedback, help maintain homeostasis

Releases releasing hormones (RH) that control the pituitary gland

Stimulates thyroid hormone release

Milk production
What does MSH do
Increases Melanin
What does ADH do
Keeps water in body (kidneys)

Uterine contractions + milk release

Calcitonin → lowers blood calcium
What do chief cells secrete
PTH → raises blood calcium

Increase metabolism, energy use, and heat production
