Marginal Distribution
Totals for one categorical variable.
Conditional Distribution
Distribution of one variable given a condition of another.
SOCS
A method for describing distributions: Shape, Outliers, Center, Spread.
Mean
The arithmetic average, sensitive to skew and outliers.
Median
The middle value, resistant to skew and outliers.
Boxplots
Visuals that show the 5-number summary: Minimum, Q1, Median, Q3, Maximum.
IQR
Interquartile Range; the range covering the middle 50% of data.
Long Bones
Bones longer than wide, acting as levers for movement.
Short Bones
Cube-shaped bones that provide stability and support.
Flat Bones
Thin and flattened bones that provide protection and muscle attachment.
Irregular Bones
Bones with complex shapes that provide support and protection.
Sesamoid Bones
Small, round bones embedded in tendons to protect them from compression.
Axial Skeleton
Skeleton division that includes the skull, vertebral column, and rib cage.
Appendicular Skeleton
Skeleton division that includes the arms, legs, shoulder girdle, and pelvic girdle.
Hematopoiesis
Blood cell formation that occurs in the skeletal system.
