Requirements to be a president (what is needed)

1. at least 35 years old

2. natural born citizen

3. lived in the U.S. for 14 years

Primary Election

A vote in which people choose a party's candidate (nominee) for the general election.

National Convention Goals

A big meeting to:

1. Name the President and Vice-President for each side

2. Adopt a platform for each side

3. Unite the party

Electoral College

A group of people named by each state legislature to select the president and vice president (270 at least)

Vice- President Duties (jobs)

1. Take over for president when he or she is unable to perform duties

2. be in charge of Senate

The President's Cabinet

A group of people to help the president. They:

1. consist of (make up) 15 departments (parts)

2. give advice to the president in areas of policy
