Brain Stem
It is the brain structure that connects the cerebrum of the brain to the spinal cord and cerebullum
Midbrain
The topmost part of the brainstem, the connection central between the brain and the spinal cord
A relay system, transmitting information necessary for vision and hearing
Pons
The larger swelling above the medulla that connects the top of the brain to the bottom
It plays a part in sleeping, left-right body coordination, and arousal
Medulla Oblongata
The first large swelling at the top of the spinal cord, forming the lowest part of the brain
Responsible for life-sustaining functions such as breathing, swallowing, and heart rate
Cerebullum
Primarily responsible for muscle control, including balance and movement
Reticular Formation
An area of neurons running through the middle of the medulla and pons
responsible for selective attention
Basilar Artery
A midline structure formed from the confluence of the vertebral arteries
the main artery that supplies blood to the back portion of the brain
Vertebral Arteries
A part of the circulatory system, they carry blood to the spinal cord and brain which are part of the nervous system
