Human Relations Movement
A management theory focusing on the behavior and motivations of people in the workplace, emphasizing partnership, cooperation, and persuasion over hierarchical control.
Planning (Functional Area)
Defining organizational goals and determining the appropriate means to achieve them, including setting a course of action for sport organizations.
Vision Statement
A long-term view that concentrates on the future, keeping a company focused and painting a picture of success.
Mission Statement
A description of what the business does, its fundamental purpose, explaining why it exists and what it does to achieve its vision.
Values
The principles and beliefs that define how a company does business, often shown in keywords.
Goal (or Objective)
A precise and/or numerical description of what an organization plans to achieve.
Strategic Goal
Long-term plans that cover broader aspects of an organization's objectives.
Operational Goal
A goal designed to accomplish a strategic goal, which can be met via tactical goals.
Tactical Goal
A more short-term goal designed to reach an operational goal.
SMART Goal
A type of goal that is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timed.
