automatic thinking - quick, unintentional, unconscious and involuntary
controlled thinking - slow, effortful and deliberate

mental structure people use to organize their knowledge abt the world around themes or subjects (ex. animals)
priming
recent experiences increase the accessibility of a schema trait or concept
Heuristics
mental shortcuts that we use to make judgements and decisions quickly
Availability heuristic
judging based on how easily an example comes to mind (ex. less travel after news of a plane crash)
representative heuristic
judging based on similarity to prototypes (ex. stereotyping)
anchoring heuristic
starting with an initial value then adjusting (ex. buying something just because itโs on sale)
