Ocular Lens (Eye pieces)

Allows an image/specimen to be viewed and magnified

Magnifies an image to allow for visualization

Stage Clips

Prevent the slide from moving and hold the specimen in place

Gathers light then concentrates it into a cone

Iris Diaphragm

Adjust the amount of light illuminating the object

Arm

Stability, can be used to carry the microscope

Coarse Adjustment Knob (Scanning)

Used for initial focus of an object

Fine Focus Knob

More precise focus

Stage Controls

Used to move the slide side to side or up and down

Light source/Lamp

Illuminator, to illuminate an image

Ocular Adjustment

Adjusts the width of the eye piece
