Renewable Energy
Energy sources which naturally renew or replenish themselves over a period of time and are not depleted by use.
Biomass
Energy from any material that comes from recently living plants or microorganisms, such as trees, branches, scraps of bark, and recycled paper.
Wind Energy
Energy captured with wind turbines, where blades turn a generator to create electricity.
Hydroelectric Power
Energy made by flowing water, generated in power plants located on large dams.
Geothermal Energy
Heat energy from deep within the Earth, often used for heating buildings or generating electricity.
Solar Energy
Energy from the Sun, can be captured actively with technology or passively based on natural sunlight changes.
Wind Farms
Groups of wind turbines located in areas such as farmland, narrow mountain passes, or oceans.
Active Solar Energy
Uses technology, like solar cells, to capture the Sun's rays.
Passive Solar Energy
Captures energy from the Sun through natural processes, like house positioning to maximize sunlight.
Advantage
A beneficial effect or favorable gain.
Disadvantage
An unfavorable effect or undesired end.
