Circulatory system
The circulatory system consists of the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries), valves, and blood.
How is blood pumped in the heart
Blood is pumped away from the heart int he arteries and retuns to the heart in the veins.
The four chambers of the heart
The heart has four chambers: the right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle.
How does the heart work
Blood flows from the veins into the atria
Atrial contraction pumps blood into ventricles
Ventricular contraction causing the blood to flow into the arterties
How can we monitor the heart
.ECG
.Pulse rate
.Listien to your heart
What happens when someone has Cornary heart disease
Cornary arteries can be blockedand the supply to the heart muscle can be interupted. A complete bockage can result in a heart attack. Arteries become blocked due to plaque
Risk factors of CHD
1.Poor diet
2. lack of exersise
3.stress
4,genetics
5,age
6.Gender
7.Smoking
Arteries
Blood flows away from the heart. Blood enters the arteries at high blood preasure. Atery walls strech.
Capillaries
Capillaries are where substances are exchanged between blood and the surrounding cells.
Veins
Blood enters the veins after leaving the capillaries. Blood pressure is lower .
