Ten Commandments
A set of biblical principles relating to ethics and worship, foundational in Christianity followed by various moral imperatives.
Mortal Sin
A serious act against God's law done knowingly and willingly, leading to the loss of God's grace.
Venial Sin
A less serious sin that does not result in a complete separation from God’s grace.
Pentecost
The event when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, often referred to as the 'Birthday of the Church'.
Fruits of the Holy Spirit
Attributes produced in the lives of believers through the work of the Holy Spirit, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Special abilities given by the Holy Spirit for the common good, including wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
Act of Contrition
A prayer expressing sorrow for sins and a commitment to avoid sinning in the future.
Sacraments of Initiation
The sacraments which introduce a person into the Christian faith: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Sacraments of Healing
Sacraments that restore spiritual health: Reconciliation (Confession) and Anointing of the Sick.
Sacraments of Service/Vocation
Sacraments related to one's service to God and the community: Holy Orders and Matrimony.
