How do cells differentiate?
Some of their genes switch on or off to produce different proteins, allowing the cell to acquire different subcellular substances for it to carry out a specific function
How do most specialised cells make more of the same cell?
By undergoing mitosis
How do red blood cells make more of the same cell and why?
They can’t divide and so are replaced by adult stem cells which retain their ability to undergo differentiation as they don’t have a nucleus
Why would cell division happen in mature animals?
To repair or replace damaged cells as they undergo little growth
