Real Zeros are also called
Linear factors
Imaginary Zeros are also called
complex zeros
i =
square root of -1
The degree of a function is
the highest value of an exponent
The degree tells you…
the amount of zeros in the function
If the exponent is odd, and the zero has an odd multiplicity then the line will
go through the x-axis at that zero.
If the exponent is EVEN, and the zero has EVEN multiplicity then the line will
BOUNCE at that zero.
If you have a solution in the form (a + bi)
then the CONJUGATE (a - bi) is ALSO a zero.
A function is EVEN if it satisfies
f(-x) = f(x) OR if the graph looks the EXACT same when reflected across the y-axis.
A function is ODD if it satisfies
f(-x) = -f(x) OR if the graph looks the SAME when reflected across the origin 180 degrees.
Zeros are also called
roots, solutions, or x-intercepts and can be real or imaginary.
